In early 2009 reconstruction of the sound booth at Millennium Park / Jay Pritzker Pavilion began on-site. This is what the original sound booth looked like prior to reconstruction.
Demolition of the original sound booth.
At 6am we started to unload the new scissor lift and move it down to the sound booth construction site. The scissor lift weighed in at about 12,000 lbs and had to transition over the Grant Park parking garage, so for safety, two forklifts were used to spread the load over a larger distance.
Installation of the new scissor lift and retractable roof/cover. The drive system was installed in the roof prior to installation on site.
Here is what the new sound booth looks like today, July 2010, a little more than a year after installation.
