Millennium Park / Jay Pritzker Pavilion - Sound Booth Reconstruction
Objective: Demo existing sound booth and build a low profile booth.
Specialty Tasks:

  • Engineer and install a drive system for the retracting roof.
  • Install a custom made scissor lift designed to lower roof into pit.

Services Used:  Mechanical contracting, engineering, rigging, machinery moving, heavy haul trucking.



In early 2009 reconstruction of the sound booth at Millennium Park / Jay Pritzker Pavilion began on-site. This is what the original sound booth looked like prior to reconstruction.

At 6am we started to unload the new scissor lift and move it down to the sound booth construction site. The scissor lift weighed in at about 12,000 lbs and had to transition over the Grant Park parking garage, so for safety, two forklifts were used to spread the load over a larger distance.
